As a part of its corporate responsibility, the <strong>Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE)<\/strong> Foundation announced that it would offer a financial grant worth $2 million for a few <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/pfizer-foundation-provides-2-million-120000092.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>pilot programmes in Africa<\/strong><\/a>. The amount shall be used for improvisation of immunization coverage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Pfizer Foundation Pilot Programme <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the programme, five countries, viz. Zambia, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi and Ethiopia will be covered. The programme will aim to introduce last-mile interventions so as to reach out to the underserved populations in aforementioned countries of African continent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The recipients of the financial aid will be <em>International Rescue Committee<\/em>, <em>Save the Children<\/em>\u00a0as well as <em>UNICEF<\/em>. Through these three organizations, the Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) financial aid will be used for building and enhancing the healthcare system capacity in Africa. This will enable the countries to ensure sustainable and effective supply of vaccines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Last-Mile Interventions <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In its Last Mile Interventions, Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) will include vaccinations through the mobile platforms. These will enable health workers in getting access to the solar-powered tablets and mobile phones. Registration of children who take birth in the clinic area shall be done through these phones and tablets to ensure vaccination reaches everyone as per the schedule.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SMS systems have also been introduced to ensure monitoring of vaccines and preventing stock-outs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>U.S. Fund for UNICEF-Pfizer reaches out to Vulnerable African Children<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The CEO and President, U.S. Fund for UNICEF, Caryl Stern, in this context said that the Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) Foundation will ensure that support is being given to UNICEF to reach out to the vulnerable children in African countries.
