The watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, has claimed that some of the restaurants of the company have poor sanitation facilities. Around a dozen of its restaurants have been shut down, temporarily, in Moscow and some other parts of Russia. As Bloomberg <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2014-09-11\/mcdonald-s-sued-in-russia-on-claim-of-understating-calorie-count.html?cmpid=yhoo\" target=\"_blank\">article<\/a> reports, McDonald\u2019s first outlet that it had opened in the Soviet Union back in 1990, has also been closed down for the time being.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Unscheduled Probes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In an investigation on McDonald\u2019s Corporation (NYSE:MCD) food products, it was established that it understates the calorie contentin its burgers by as much as 70%. Apart from this, the food chain devalues the nutritional value of the milkshakes it produces by almost 50%. The information, for the probe conducted in June, was shared by the Novgorod branch of the watchdog on its website in July.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Ukraine conflicts between the U.S. and Russia have taken its toll on McDonald\u2019s as it received calls from the country\u2019s lawmakers to close down the chain. In this context, it is also noteworthy that President Vladimir Putin had issued an import ban of several food products last month, as a strike against the European Union and the U.S. sanctions on companies, as well as individuals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">McDonald\u2019s Corporation (NYSE:MCD)\u2019s had to shut down as many as eight of its restaurants in Russia after Rospotrebnadzor report claimed that the company had violated sanitary regulations. Among the eight was also its oldest and biggest restaurant, near the Pushkin square in Moscow.
