As per the latest reports, a suburban city in the nearby area has decided to file a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/canada\/burnaby-asks-court-to-block-kinder-morgan-b-c-pipeline-1.2000021\" target=\"_blank\">civil lawsuit<\/a> against KMI in relation with its Trans Mountain pipeline. In that lawsuit, it has been stated that KMI&#8217;s new pipeline is irreparable harmful to local people and crops around that area. The lawsuit also states that due to the work of the pipeline, several trees are cut in and around that area in order to expand the pipeline, which is not good for the climate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Insights of the matter: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">KMI&#8217;s new project was not liked by people of Burnaby city due to the negative effects that it caused. City of Burnaby filed that suit with B.C. Supreme Court in order to ask the local authorities to prevent that work with immediate effect. Burnaby mountain had a lot of trees which were cut due to the expansion work; people of this city didn&#8217;t want it to happen anymore. Earlier National Energy Board allowed\u00a0Kinder Morgan Inc (NYSE:KMI) to proceed with the expansion work in that area; hence, people of the city want to overturn that decision as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The lawsuit can be termed as the newest evidence of escalating fight between KMI, Burnaby City and NEB (National Energy Board). KMI is responsible for transporting bitumen and various other oil products from Alberta to a terminal in Burnaby.\u00a0Kinder Morgan Inc (NYSE:KMI) has been planning to triple its capacity that&#8217;s the main reason it wants to expand the pipelines by investing $5.4-billion in this project. City of Burnaby has not been in favor of this work since the starting.
