(NASDAQ:CVGW)\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/article\/2014-09-09\/aDJwkDdzI.4o.html\">reported<\/a> the financial result of the third quarter of 2014 (3Q2014) ended July 31, 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Highlights<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Revenues during the period were $218.7 million, up by 12.2% (3Q2013: $194.9 million) due to double-digit growth in Renaissance Food Group, LLC (RFG) and Calavo Foods.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">RFG\u2019s revenues grew by 31.1% to $71.8 million due to increased sales in food category. The increase in sales and improved raw material quality and yields drove the gross margin by 300 basis points to 10.6%. The Company believes that the segment will continue to support the growth due to its strong market position in refrigerated packaged food category.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Calavo Foods, at the same time, posted growth in revenues by 17.1% to $17.1 million (3Q2013: $14.5 million) due to increased customer base and rising penetration in retail and food-service channels. But, the segment\u2019s gross margin declined to 22.5% due to higher costs of fresh avocados utilized products.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But, Fresh business\u2019 revenue increased by only 3.3% to $129.8 million and gross margin remained flat compared to the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The double-digit growth in revenue in RFG and Calavo Foods improved the overall gross margin to 9.6% from 9.3% in the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Calavo Growers, Inc. (NASDAQ:CVGW) reported $12.6 million non-operation gain from deconsolidation of the FreshRealm, LLC subsidiary and the Company now reduced its stake to 50% from 70% in the subsidiary. But, excluding the non-operating gain, the Company\u2019 bottom-line performance improved significantly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During 3Q2014, adjusted net income was $8.4 million or $0.53 per diluted share, up by 31.6% compared to net income of $6.4 million or $0.43 per diluted shares in 3Q2013.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>FY2014 outlook<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Calavo Growers, Inc. (NASDAQ:CVGW)\u2019s CEO Cole expects that the Company will generate positive growth in FY2014 as RFG segment will continue to provide incremental growth in performance and Calavo Foods will remain consistent especially in refrigerated and frozen categories.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Company anticipates improvement in the gross margin of Calavo Foods with an expected decrease in costs of fresh avocados utilized products.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the other end, FreshRealm will bring fresh food to its customers with the launch of new cloud-based food preparation and delivery platform.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Boston, MA 09\/10\/2014 (wallstreetpr) \u2013\u00a0Calavo Growers, Inc.
