According to Associated Press, the airline achieved its best month for August, compared to last year <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rttnews.com\/2381130\/southwest-airlines-august-traffic-rises-but-capacity-edges-down-quick-facts.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">seen<\/a> by 5-6% increase in total revenue for the period.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Traffic Increases<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The increase in revenue for the month came at the back of an increase of 4.9% in total traffic as capacity also dropped by 0.2%. In terms of Traffic during the month Southwest came on top when compared to <strong>Delta Airlines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL)<\/strong> and <strong>American Airlines Group Inc. (NASDAQ:AAL)<\/strong> that were affected by a decline in traffic of people travelling across the Atlantic. It is worth noting that Southwest Airlines Co (NYSE:LUV) is one of the few airlines that does not fly to Europe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The airlines registered fewer empty seats for the month as its carrying capacity shrunk by 0.2% allowing the company to achieve an 85.5% full-flight capacity compared to 81.3% that was reported a year ago same period. The airline has also carried out a remodeling of its design adding to the number of changes that the company is expected to initialize this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong> New Logo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Old is gold, seen by the fact that Southwest airlines has gone back to its old roots and unveiled a new vintage heart logo that is more colorful with a unique modern design. The airline reiterates that the new logo is dedicated to the company\u2019s hardworking workforce. The design changes will see the brand name\u00a0Delta Airlines, Inc. (NYSE:DAL) being moved from the tail of the airplanes to the middle where it is visible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The latest design changes are the first one, since 2001 when Southwest Airlines added <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/southwest-airlines-facelift-heart-echoes-180002668.html\" target=\"_blank\">canyon blue color<\/a> to commemorate its 30th birthday. Southwest Airlines Co (NYSE:LUV) also reports that plans are underway to repaint up to 60 airplanes by the end of the year with six new addition for every month.
