The company announced the move on the eve of the fourth year of Internet Essentials initiative during the Youth Tech Summit in Silicon Valley on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Amnesty Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company indicated that the qualified low-income families, who have not paid their bill for over a year now, would be able to come back to the Internet Essentials program, a <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/comcast-updates-silicon-valley-internet-163000780.html\" target=\"_blank\">press statement from the company<\/a> said. Customers would have to meet the eligibility criteria set forth by the company in order to get its amnesty for the debt for connecting themselves to the program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Comcast said that it would also offer a maximum of six-month complementary service of Internet for any new family provided they get approval for Internet Essentials initiative before the end of September 20.\u00a0Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) has launched its Internet initiative in 2011 and has connected over 350,000 families since then nationally or approximately 1.4 million low-income families. The initiative has been in existence in 39 States besides the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The communication services provider also disclosed that it has signed 46,250 low-income families in North California or approximately 186,000 low-income families for the Internet Essentials initiative.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Teams Up<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA)\u00a0said that it has also teamed up with Silicon Valley Education Foundation or SVEF to organize the \u2018iHub Pitch Games\u2019 during the summit thus providing startups in the educational technology a chance to check their science and math-friendly program in schools in Silicon Valley. As a result, startup entrepreneurs showcased their e-learning products to a panel of eminent educators and businessmen in Silicon Valley.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Management Views<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company Executive Vice President, David Cohen, said that Internet Essentials was all about transforming lives and encourages new generation of people to be ready for digital world so that they can access the tools and information that students needed to succeed during the 21<sup>st<\/sup> century.
