However, the earnings in the latest quarter were in-line with the consensus estimates. The company revealed its partnership with major power companies and why such arrangements are important for its future.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company posted a net loss of $7.8 million or $0.03 a share. That compared unfavorably with a net loss of $6.4 million or $0.03 a share in the same period in the prior year. On an adjusted basis, net loss in the latest quarter was $7.7 million, still leading to $0.03 a share. The company reported revenue of $43.2 million, which declined from $53.7 million in the corresponding quarter a year ago.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Analysts\u2019 expectation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wall Street was looking for earnings of $0.03 a share on revenue of $53.64 million for the quarter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">FuelCell Energy Inc (NASDAQ:FCEL) reported that its total backlog was $350.2 million as of July 31, which was an increase from $342.8 million as of April 30.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The fuel cell technology is gradually gaining popularity in a number of industries, and that is why FuelCell Energy Inc (NASDAQ:FCEL) believes that the future is bright even though revenue and earnings challenges still exist. Commenting on the latest quarterly results, the company&#8217;s President and CEO, Chip Bottone, said that they are collaborating with various major power producers. He mentioned NRG Energy in which they are associating in North America projects and POSCO Energy in which they are associating in Asian projects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The executive said that their partnership with the leading power producers helps to validate their power generation solutions and also support purchase agreement structures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>$6.5 million German award<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Through such collaborative arrangements and several others, the executive said they are confident that FuelCell Energy Inc (NASDAQ:FCEL) will continue to grow. The company also revealed that it received about $6.5 million award from the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy. The award was extended to FCEL and GmbH and Fraunhofer IKTS in a joint manner.
