(NASDAQ:LORL)<\/strong> announced on September 6, 2014 that it had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/loral-and-ssl-reach-settlement-with-viasat-2014-09-06\" target=\"_blank\">reached<\/a> a settlement with <strong>ViaSat, Inc. (NASDAQ:VSAT)<\/strong>. LORL, VSAT and Space Systems\/Loral, LLC (SSL) have decided to settle a patent infringement and breach of contract lawsuit that was filed by VSAT. As per the information made available by the company, VSAT filed lawsuit against SSL and LORAL in February 2012. It also filed a lawsuit against SSL in September 2013.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>T&amp;C of The Settlement<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the terms and conditions of current settlement, ViaSat, Inc. (NASDAQ:VSAT) is to be paid $40 million now and $60 million over the next 2.5 years along with interest. In return, VSAT has decided to free SSL and all of its customers from any lawsuit that was filed in the past or is levied at present. VSAT will not file any lawsuit against SSL in the future, provided the entire payment and interest payments are made completely. After this settlement, SSL will be able to use patents-in-suit and a few patent applications in the future without any problem.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As a result of this settlement SSL, Loral Space &amp; Communications Ltd. (NASDAQ:LORL) and all of their customers will be free from breach of contract and patent infringement brought in lawsuits. Both SSL and LORL will make an equal payment to ViaSat, Inc. (NASDAQ:VSAT) in starting, but this distribution will be subjected to further allocation between these two companies. Both the companies will meet in the month of October and execute an arbitration procedure in order to decide how much payment each party will have to make exactly. According to Michael B. Targoff, Vice Chairman of Loral Space &amp; Communications Ltd.
