Founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/id\/101972820?__source=yahoo%7cfinance%7cheadline%7cheadline%7cstory&amp;par=yahoo&amp;doc=101972820\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>TwitPic<\/strong><\/a>, Noah Everett wrote on its blog post that Twitter\u2019s request has led to this \u201chard and sudden announcement.\u201d The photo-sharing website launched in the year 2008, TwitPic will shut down later in September 2014 on Twitter\u2019s \u201crequest\u201d to abandon the trademark.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Irony of the Situation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is quite ironical that Twitter, one of the largest social networking websites today, came into limelight only when in the year 2009; a user shared a TwitPic picture of Hudson River landed Flight 1549 of U.S. Airways on Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR). The picture went viral immediately and Twitter came into everyone\u2019s eye. This was \u201cTwitter\u2019s Twist in Tale\u201d!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">TwitPic, which enables the users to upload and share videos, GIFs and pictures on the social media, said that the company had no resources to discourage another company of such stature. Quite ironically; Twitter was not much liked and talked-about website and TwiPic was a preferred choice of users then.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In fact, in an interview with CNBC in the year 2013, the Co-Founder of Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR), Jack Dorsey admitted that, TwitPic photo that was shared on Twitter changed everything because for the world, Twitter had become a \u201cnews source\u201d all of a sudden.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What Twitter has to Say?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Talking to CNBC, the spokesperson of Twitter said that it was not a very good sight to see TwitPic shut down. He added that Twitter encouraged developers for building something on top of Twitter, just like TwitPic has been doing for years.
