The application will be supporting Android devices as of now. However, Nokia also announced that it will launch new mobile maps application for both, Android and iOS platforms before 2014 end. As of now, a new app has been launched only on the Samsung devices, but eventually, expansion plans are on its way.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Characteristics of \u2018Here Maps\u2019: What makes it different from Apple Maps and Google Maps?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here Maps shall be made available free of cost for both the aforementioned operating systems. But the primary question is regarding competition. With the popularity of <strong>Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)<\/strong> Maps and <strong>Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)<\/strong> Maps, where does Here Maps stand?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new Nokia Maps application will compete with both in terms of general mapping as well as navigation. Users of this application on Windows Phone and Microsoft Windows are aware of the added benefits that Here Maps offer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A special feature that sets it apart from the rest of two is that a user can use Here Maps even without an Internet connection, which is not possible in Google Maps. Offline mapping ability of Here Maps will nevertheless, be available to users if they have already installed the map data in their phone for certain specific locations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>No Money Making from Here Maps for Nokia in Short Term<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Even though Here Maps offers special and additional features like no advertisements and free downloads, but the company shall still have to wait to monetize or mint money from this mapping application. Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) shall not be able to generate anything directly from mobile users, not at least in the near future!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What\u2019s the Benefit?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The benefit enjoyed by Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) in all this is that it will be able to generate crucial data in order to make this mobile application a better one.
