If she succeeds, Smith will be the third person to be on the CTO profile. Previously, CTO position was occupied by Aneesh Chopra and Todd Park. Aneesh Chopra has resigned and returned back to home town whereas Park will take the position of technology adviser in President Barack Obama\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The CTO role<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chief Technology Officer can be called as a chief geek-in-residence of White House who has got the responsibility to solve the unknown technological problems in various situations. The CTO officer monitors the government\u2019s use of technology. Also, officer has added responsibility of enhance the use of broadband and find innovative ways to create jobs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Former CTO Park fixed the problems of Obamacare portal known as HealthCare.gov. He was a key contributor in the Presidential Innovation Fellows program. The program was created to bring the government officials and private-sector individuals together to work on same projects. Obama welcomed Park in the new department and said that he expects Park to continue providing quality services in the new sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Smith profile<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Smith started its career with Google in 2003. Prior to it, Smith was the chief executive officer of Planet Out. She was VP of business development segment in Google during which she looked over many important acquisitions including Keyhole. She has also developed the philanthropic division of Google, known as Google.org. She has served as a VP at Google\u2019s X lab.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Her most interesting role was of co-host for Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)\u2019s Solve for X forum. It is a dedicated program where the thinkers and scientists get involved in a brainstorming session of technological ideas with Google executives. Smith completed her graduation and master graduation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
