The workers will also get $1,500 as a signing bonus with the new ratification process. Unifor National President Jerry Dias praised the workers for taking measures in the right direction. A simple change in thought process can retain the jobs in the community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The issue<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dias presented a speech in the United Auto Workers convention held in the month of June. He said that the failed negotiations with the Johnson Controls would have resulted in the shutdown of assembly operations at <strong>General Motors Company (NYSE:GM)<\/strong> plant in Oshawa. GM gets the interiors and seats part of its several vehicles from Johnson Controls Inc (NYSE:JCI) plant. Unifor, Johnson and General Motors started the three-party discussion round to find an intermediate solution. Finally, the discussion worked out and, as a result, the Whitby facility will continue to function, and will ensure smooth supply of the components to the GM Oshawa plant.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The new deal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new deal is valid for three-year which allows the workers to get the current wages and a lucrative $1,500 signing bonus. Around 300 workers of the plant will get the benefits. Johnson initially demanded wage rollbacks. However, in the final deal, the number of job categories was reduced. Johnson Controls Inc (NYSE:JCI) considers it as a fair deal where there is no loss of jobs at Whitby plant and at the same time the plant will continue to operate with a normal capacity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>A new approach<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new agreement and mutual solution between the workers and Johnson Controls Inc (NYSE:JCI) management signals that a little creativity and determination can bring in positive results. The open discussion at bargaining table is a practical way to end up the mess and start with the newly created solutions.
