The company had established a separate website having the details of the owners of the recalled vehicles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Expanded List<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company had provided information of about 15 million vehicle owners in its website, <a href=\"http:\/\/gmignitionupdate.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/gmignitionupdate.com<\/a>, of the twenty models for which recalls were issued for a possible ignition switch problem. Initially, the site contained the 2.59 million owners of mostly small cars that included Saturn Ion, Chevrolet Cobalt, which had ignition problems resulting in disabling of airbags. It has now added the missed out models such as Impala sedans, Chevrolet Malibu apart from four Cadillac models, <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/gm-expands-website-owners-recalled-160555110.html\" target=\"_blank\">Reuters<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>General Motors Company (NYSE:GM)<\/strong> disclosed that the list of expansion did not include every recall since they do not fit into a bigger category like the vehicles recalled for ignition problems. The company added that the idea behind the updated website was to get the vehicles defective switches issue fixed quickly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) has been under fire for the record recalls it has made in the current year due to ignition switch issue and the 13 deaths associated with the problem. Its safety had come under severe scanner among the regulators, as well as, advocates despite some of its engineers\u2019 knowledge about the issue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Mailing of Letters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company had indicated that it had mailed approximately 1.9 million letters written by its Chief Executive Officer, Mary Barra, to the 2.59 million initial set of owners. The CEO&#8217;s letter had urged the owners to bring their vehicles for repairs. Significantly, over one million owners have not responded to the company\u2019s letter either by not ordering parts through their website or from the dealers. The owners of 875K vehicles had ordered for parts.
