Top two giants in this web are <strong>Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) <\/strong>and <strong>Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR).<\/strong> In amidst of millions of incidents that take place on the day to day basis, these social media platforms decide which news should get more attention and which news should not.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>How does it happen? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The news feed are controlled through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/morning-mix\/wp\/2014\/08\/19\/how-facebook-and-twitter-control-what-you-see-about-ferguson\/\" target=\"_blank\">algorithm<\/a> or a mathematical program that prioritizes the news on social media. The best example of extensive use of the algorithm had been seen over the past few weeks in case of protests in Ferguson, Mo. Recently an unarmed black teenager named Michael Brown was shot by a few people who gathered the attention of a lot of people from across the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The news about Michael filled the maximum space on the wall of many of the people. The situation was similar for both Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) and TWTR, but due to easy sharing options; it was seen more on Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR). The wide reach and easy sharing feature of TWTR make it an ideal option for sharing breaking news.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>TWTR v\/s FB: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both TWTR and Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) looks same in terms of news sharing, but they are different in terms of the content that you see on your wall. In the case of TWTR, there is no such algorithm which prioritizes the content to be displayed on your wall. You get to see posts of the people that you follow in Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR), but FB is different. According to experts, FB uses a different and quite complicated type of algorithm that shows news on the basis of your preferences.
