According to recent reports, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2014\/8\/18\/6030393\/nextdoor-private-social-network-40000-neighborhoods\" target=\"_blank\">each one in four communities<\/a> in American neighborhood use private social network over Facebook to get connected.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Details: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Flooding hit The Knolls; a neighborhood of about 500 homes in Columbus, Ohio a few days ago. One man who got stuck in his basement when it hit his house, used a private social network named &#8216;Nextdoor&#8217; to call for help from someone nearby. Although the news later came on twitter and Facebook, but Chuck Totten could only save his live because of &#8216;Nextdoor.&#8217; It left a major question in everyone&#8217;s mind that which social network was more important, one like Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) and Twitter or the one like &#8216;Nextdoor.&#8217; Although Facebook or Twitter help people getting connected with each other, but networks like &#8216;Nextdoor&#8217; give people a chance to connect with the people of the neighborhood.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Nextdoor, the next big thing:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When it was founded in San Francisco in year 2010, no one thought that it would achieve the success that it has achieved today. It is an odd social network that asks for identification as well as address proof at the time of signing up. Whatever messages are post can only be seen by the people in the immediate area. The app doesn&#8217;t provide any share or retweet as well to prolife rate messages. No one can send messages across the network like Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) groups and Twitter. It gives a message board feeling than a social network&#8217;s, but still it has made its way in USA. Two years ago in 2012, not more than 3500 neighborhoods had &#8216;Nextdoor&#8217; whereas today this number has crossed 40,000 neighborhoods or each one in four American Communities as per the company.
