All that happened while potential buyers continued to circle the company with buyout agenda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">People with insider knowledge have identified a number of European drug companies that include Sanofi and Roche as being interested in InterMune, Bloomberg stated in an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2014-08-13\/europe-s-biggest-drugmakers-said-to-bid-for-intermune.html\" target=\"_blank\">article<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The jump in shares, which was attributed to the buyout news, helped the market cap of InterMune Inc (NASDAQ:ITMN) to perch above $5.6 billion. Source said the company has already tapped a number of advisers to help with buyout transaction and those helping it include <strong>Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS) <\/strong>and Centerview Partners LLC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Other Potential Buyers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Besides Roche and Sanofi whose names have featured the most in the buyout talks, others salivating for InterMune Inc (NASDAQ:ITMN) include <strong>GlaxoSmithKline plc (ADR) (NYSE:GSK)<\/strong> and Actelion, sources said. However, Sanofi is so far being thought of as the frontrunner in the bid to acquire InterMune Inc because it has shown the most interest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Several deals such as the one in which InterMune Inc (NASDAQ:ITMN) is being circled have been struck this year with their value being placed at $6.2 billion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Hope For U.S. Approval<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">InterMune develops treatment for a type of lung condition that has no cure and also whose cause remains unknown. Its drug for the condition, Esbriet, saw sales more than doubling in 2Q to come in at $35.7 million compared with $14.4 million in the same period last year.
