The company has reached to an agreement when they were about to be sued, with U.S. Justice Department to avoid the trial over the issue and pay the fine.<\/p>\n
Apple was originally charged for around $840 million in allegations which were filed on behalf of the digital book buyers. Then in last year by organizing and controlling the electronic books of 5 major publishers with price-fixing scheme, U.S. District Judge Denise Cote authorized Apple of abusing the U.S. antitrust law.<\/p>\n
U.S. Justice Department strived that Apple\u2019s late CEO, Steve Jobs had schemed a policy of charging higher prices for e-books of major publishers because of the steep discounts which were offered by Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Apple since last year has been found appealing to Cote\u2019s decision. If the appeal prevails, the Cupertino, California, company might not have to pay $400 million in settlement. Only if the appeals court concludes that Apple did not break any anti-trust laws, then only there are chances that the business would be owing no money to its current consumers.<\/p>\n
