(ADR) (NYSE:SAN)<\/b>, Spain\u2019s largest bank by market value, reached a long-term strategic partnership arrangement with CNP Assurances of France.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the agreement, SAN will receive 290 million euros ($396 million) from CNP Assurances in exchange for 51 percent stake in the former&#8217;s life and non-life insurance units.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The transaction will lead to a significant boost to the balance sheet of Banco Santander, S.A. (ADR) (NYSE:SAN).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The deal is expected to close before the end of this year. The companies said the partnership will operate in 10 countries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Acquisition of GE Money<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The deal with CNP Assurance comes just a few weeks since Banco Santander, S.A. (ADR) (NYSE:SAN) announced that it acquired GE Money from Nordic Holdings AB. The acquisition valued at 700 million euros ($959 million), expands the position of the bank in the customer financing business in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">GE Money has 2.35 billion euros in combined loan portfolio in the three countries. The company expects the transaction to add more than 1.2 million to its customer base in the region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Banco Santander, S.A. (ADR) (NYSE:SAN) expects to close in the second half of 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Analyst darling<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Analysts have a consensus recommendation of a Buy on the stock of Banco Santander, S.A. (ADR) (NYSE:SAN). The average price target is $29.87 apiece.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of the notable rating firms that have recently weighed in on the stock include Zacks, which recently upgraded their view on the stock from Neutral to Outperform and issued a price target of $28.60 per share.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Banco Santander, S.A. (ADR) (NYSE:SAN) is expected to report its 2Q2014 at the end of this month on July 31. The bank last reported earnings in April whereby its figures fell short of Wall Street expectations. It earned $0.55 per share against the consensus estimate of $$0.62 for the quarter.
