{"id":26880,"date":"2014-06-27T08:46:52","date_gmt":"2014-06-27T12:46:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cablemanpro.com\/wallstreetpr\/?p=26880"},"modified":"2014-06-27T08:46:52","modified_gmt":"2014-06-27T12:46:52","slug":"general-electric-company-nyseges-energy-services-division-launched-girlsgetset-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cablemanpro.com\/wallstreetpr\/general-electric-company-nyseges-energy-services-division-launched-girlsgetset-initiative-26880","title":{"rendered":"General Electric Company (NYSE:GE)\u2019S Energy Services Division Launched GirlsGetSET Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Boston, MA 06\/27\/2014 (wallstreetpr) \u2013 The energy services division of <b>General Electric Company (NYSE:GE)<\/b>, GE Oil &amp; Gas on June 26, 2014 announced that it was launching a special programme called GirlsGetSET initiative in North East Scotland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>About the GirlsGetSET initiative Programme<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This is a special programme spread over a duration of 5 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The GirlsGetSET initiative is aimed at increasing awareness among women regarding the wide scope of career opportunities in the areas of science, engineering and technology (SET).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The purpose of this initiative is to close the increased gender gap which exists between the people choosing SET related subjects at the secondary school level.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For this programme, General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) called 120 girls between 11-15 years of age and also the teaching staff from Montrose Academy, St Machar Academy and Bridge of Don Academy. Thereafter, the launch event was started at subsea headquarters in Aberdeen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Co-Founder of the Initiative <\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kimberley Kirkham is the co-founder of this initiative and she introduced this programme to the Subsea Systems business of GE Oil &amp; Gas in Aberdeen. She said that absence of any sturdy female role model at GE pushed her towards introduction of this initiative. She further explained that engineering was one of the most innovative and creative fields and that she wanted to encourage participation of more females for understanding this field.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kimberley Kirkham said that through GE Oil &amp; Gas, there has been a great opportunity for North East of Scotland which is a crucial area for driving the continued growth in energy sector across the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Live GirlsGetSET<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Live GirlsGetSET has become an ongoing programme now and the girls shall be mentored for their academic careers during this time period.
