As per the 15th annual Sustainability Report of the company, Ford is aggressively stepping up the water conservation programs among all the suppliers of the company as well as the global facilities.<\/p>\n
Water Conservation: Ford\u2019s Corporate Responsibility<\/b><\/p>\n
In the year 2013, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F)\u00a0brought down the per vehicle water use by 30% globally, starting from the baseline of 2009. The company said that it reached its goal two years before the decided schedule. Ford has plans to bring down the water usage by 2% more in 2014 and thereafter, set its new long-term goals.<\/p>\n

The Executive Vice President, Global Manufacturing and Labor Affairs for Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), John Fleming said that the company is continuing with the largest expansion in the world in more than 50 years, but at the same time, it recognises the importance of working in those regions which are struggling with scarcity of water. He added that it is important to understand the future constraints from the business point of view, and thus immediately bring down the water consumption at Ford to cater to this problem of water scarcity.<\/p>\n
Changes Implemented at Ford Facilities<\/b><\/p>\n
In April 2014, the President and CEO of Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), Alan Mulally had endorsed CEO Water Mandate in order to define the mission of the company clearly. The CEO Water Mandate is the private-public initiative of U.N. Secretary General which was started in the year 2007 and required the companies to directly report about the water management progress on an annual basis. As a result of this, various changes were brought in the facilities of Ford and these included:<\/p>\n
Installation of dedicated piping for potable water in order to ensure that the water from this is used for human consumption only<\/p>\n
Recycling of all the other water which is used at the plant<\/p>\n
Replacing the asphalt with ecological concrete so that the rain can re-enter into the ground<\/p>\n
