This will be done in order to increase the capacity of the company to cater to the growing customer base.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Microsoft\u2019s Project<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The original project of Microsoft, which was rolled out in the year 2010, involved the investment of approximately $499 million with 50 new jobs. In the year 2011, the company invested another $150 million for expansion of the site and later in 2013, it announced to invest $348 million for expansion. The third expansion project of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)\u00a0has brought it to a total capital investment of over $1.3 billion since the year 2010.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Virginia\u2019s Efforts to Secure the Project<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked along with the Mecklenburg County in order to secure this project. In getting hold of this project, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, Dominion Virginia Power as well as Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corporation also played a crucial role.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Statement from the Governor Terry McAuliffe\u2019s Office, Virginia<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Governor Terry McAuliffe in Virginia in a statement said that the Governor\u2019s office competed against various other U.S. sites for this project because it would lead to creation of 90 new jobs for the people. Terry McAuliffe said that the data center campus of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)\u00a0in Mecklenburg County is a representation of opportunity, growth as well as investment for Virginia region.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Statement from the General Manager, Data Center Services, Global Foundation Services at Microsoft<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The General Manager, Data Center Services, Global Foundation Services at Microsoft, Christian Belady added that their company was excited to build the relationship with the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as County of Mecklenburg. The expansion, he said, allowed the company to meet the growing cloud service needs of the customers.
