Boston, MA 06\/11\/2014 (wallstreetpr) \u2013 Capstone Turbine Corporation (NASDAQ:CPST)<\/b>, the global renowned clean technology producer announced on Tuesday that its turbines located in the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania have crossed the level of 100,000 in terms of operating hours.<\/p>\n
Clean Technology<\/b><\/p>\n
Masonic Village is spread over 1,400 acre area and is home to over 1,700 residents. The community was established in 1910 and took over a century to transition from the conventional source of powers to the latest technology like that of Capstone Turbine. Masonic first initiated the step of embracing the new generation technology in 2002, when it installed the company\u2019s microturbines to meet their heating and electric requirements. The turbines have the capacity of generating 390 kW of electricity, which is equivalent to power as much as 205 homes. As of now, the turbines are successfully meeting 10% of the electricity demand of Masonic and generating power sufficient to fetch it 100% hot water.<\/p>\n
Carbon Emissions<\/b><\/p>\n
Comparing on emission basis, the new capstone turbines have reduced the carbon emissions drastically by 31,511 tons over the last nine years as against to those times when Masonic was completely dependent on coal produced power. The reduction in carbon emission is as good as taking 7,062 cars off road or planting nearly 11,212 acres of forest.<\/p>\n
Capstone Turbine Corporation (NASDAQ:CPST)\u00a0stated in its press release that its 2014 Microturbine Unit #1 installed in Masonic village completed the 100,000 hours of operation. The company further highlighted that the unit along with other five of such units have been successful in reducing the carbon emissions by 3,564 tons per year. The number translates into 42,800 tons of approximate reduction in emissions since the units were installed. As of now, the turbines located in Masonic Village have generated sufficient energy to power as much as 5,300 homes.
