Boston, MA 06\/10\/2014 (wallstreetpr) \u2013 The second biggest automaker in the U.S., Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F)<\/b> has experienced momentum in sales in China, the second biggest economy in the world, during the month of May. The company indicated that there is a steady increase in customers preferring its vehicles in the current calendar year.<\/p>\n
May Sales In China<\/b><\/p>\n
The Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) disclosed that its sales jumped 32% in China region in May to over 94K vehicles in wholesale from about 70K vehicles in the previous year. This growth is driven by 35% uptick in passenger car sales to nearly 72K vehicles from 53.4K vehicles in the year-ago May month.<\/p>\n
For the year-to-date period of up to May, Ford China recorded 39% increase in wholesale vehicles to about 461.4K from 332.3K vehicles in the previous year same period. Its passenger car segment posted a stellar performance registering 46% uptick to 347.5K vehicles from 238.1K vehicles in the last year period.<\/p>\n
Ford\u2019s Joint Venture Sales<\/b><\/p>\n
Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F)\u2019s joint venture for passenger car in China, Changan Ford Automobile witnessed 32% increase in sales to 67.4K vehicles from 51.0K vehicles in May previous year. The company attributed the significant growth to solid demand for its Mondeo as well as Focus brands. While sales of Ford Mondeo nameplate climbed 90% in May to 10.4K vehicles, sales of Ford Focus nameplate increased 22% to 33.3K vehicles. For the year-to-date period, sales jumped 43% to 330.7K vehicles over the prior year period.<\/p>\n
Similarly, its China commercial vehicle investment company, Jiangling Motors Corporation also registered 25% growth in May sales to 21.3K vehicles from 17.0K vehicles in the year-ago month. For the period up to May, sales advanced 21% to 113.9K vehicles from 94.2K vehicles in the previous year period.<\/p>\n
