The petition said that a single union will represent 24,000 flight attendants of the airlines. The number of flight attendants of American Airlines increased after merger of US Airways and AMR Corp in the year 2013.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Joint Petition Of The Unions<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) as well as the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) jointly filed a petition with U.S. National Mediation Board. After being granted the permission to operate as a single union, APFA would become a single body to represent the flight attendants at both these carriers. The parent airlines of US Airways and AMR Corp, i.e., American Airlines Group Inc (NASDAQ:AAL) want a single operating certificate which would cover both these airlines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Certification of APFA Expected<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The permission to form a single union will lead to a certification of APFA. The flight attendants of US Airways, who are represented by AFA, in this context, also gave their approval on the agreement to be represented by a single body, under APFA with effect from February 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Statement From The APFA President<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The APFA President, Laura Glading, said that the National Mediation Board was informed about the decision of the two unions to be representative as a combined and single work force. AFA also, Laura explained, has given the information to the National Mediation Board that this body will not seek representation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a separate context, on June 9, 2014, American Airlines Group Inc (NASDAQ:AAL) had also reported that crucial revenue measure is expected to rise more than its earlier forecast in Q2 2014.
