(USA) (NYSE:AUY)<\/b> boss Peter Marrone has emerged as the highest paid mining CEO in this year\u2019s list. Overall, Mr. Marrone ranked at No. 15 out of 100 most paid CEOs in Canada.<\/p>\n
The development comes at a time when Yamana Gold (NYSE:AUY) has shown great interest in increasing presence at home. The company\u2019s main focus has been the Latin America region. In the latest move to boost operations at home, the company made a key hire for its Canadian operations. It hired Daniel Racine, formerly of Agnico Eagle Mines, to head its Canadian operations.<\/p>\n
In a move aid at boosting asset portfolio in Canada, Yamana Gold Inc. (USA) (NYSE:AUY) agreed to acquire some assets for about $3.6 billion from Osisko Mining Corp.<\/p>\n
The deadlock over copper export ban in Indonesia has pushed Newmont Mining Corp (NYSE:NEM)<\/b> to halt copper concentrate production in the country. However, the company said it will wait for the results of the government talks this week to decide the fate of its employees at the copper and gold Batu Hijau mine.<\/p>\n
The preliminary consideration was putting the employees on paid leave in efforts aimed at reducing financial burden on the company. In Indonesia, Newmont (NYSE:NEM) faces the challenge of mineral export ban and the higher tax imposed on concentrate copper exports.<\/p>\n
The Batu Hijau mine started operations in 2000 and Newmont Mining Corp (NYSE:NEM) was projecting copper concentrate output in the range of 110,000 \u2013 125,000 tonnes this year. Newmont (NYSE:NEM) earned $0.22 per share 1Q2014 on revenue of $1.76 billion. Analysts expected earnings per share of $0.19 on revenue of $1.85 billion for the quarter. Revenue was down almost 20 percent on a year-over-year basis.<\/p>\n
The animal health company Zoetis Inc (NYSE:ZTS)<\/b> said its Chief Executive Officer, Ramon Alaix, will present at the Goldman Sacs Annual Global Healthcare Conference in California.
