End To A Decade Old Lawsuit<\/b><\/p>\n
PFE has recently confirmed to pay $325 million with respect to the claims alleged by the plaintiff in a decade old lawsuit. The lawsuit is filed by a number of providers and insurers for defrauding them on account of disapproved marketing of Neurontin thereby leading them to widespread losses. This was the second settlement in arrow in just six weeks from the earlier one over the issue of the epilepsy drug. The disclosure was initially made in the U.S. District Court, Boston. The allegations were primarily made against Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) and its sales unit Warren-Lambert Company for selling unapproved drug.<\/p>\n
The Neurontin drug supplied by the company was approved neither by the FDA nor on any medical count. The step was taken solely to boost profits without taking the practiced route. The plaintiff included both the patients as well as insurers who bought and reimbursed respectively the drug from the outlets of Pfizer. The lawsuit resulted in the end of all anti-trust issues too. However, Pfizer remarked that the settlement in any manner does not highlight Pfizer\u2019s acceptance of any allegations.<\/p>\n
