(NYSE:T) To Lead A Project To Mitigate Texting And Driving Hazards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Boston, MA 06\/03\/2014 (wallstreetpr) \u2013\u00a0Texting while walking, driving or riding can be very easily spotted today and is one of the major reasons for road accidents<b>. <\/b><strong>AT&amp;T Inc. (NYSE:T)<\/strong> announced yesterday that by using smartphone technology and wireless network it will build a system which will make the pedestrians, cyclists and motorists more aware of the surroundings and will incorporate solutions which will intimate them of the potential dangers. To start with this project, T and NYC Media made a paper drawing of the country indicating the major smartphone distraction and other safety hindrances. The company has put a 3-month tech challenge to it developers to come up with smartphone apps and wearable devices, using smartphone sensors, phone-to-phone communications and natural user interfaces, that can mitigate the distractions by connecting the user or the wearer to its immediate surroundings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>The efforts have already been initiated by the city authorities<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The city has already seen a great deal of pedestrian deaths and has tried to resolve this issue by lowering speed limits, improving traffic signals and creating pedestrian greenways which are already underway. When this issue was taken to AT&amp;T Inc. (NYSE:T), the company decided to use the entire power of the city&#8217;s transportation, technology, and academic and advocacy communities to fight back and finally came up with its research paper and the 3-month tech challenge. Once again T will be working with the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, and everyone in the college is very much excited to contribute to a technology which will improve the lives of the New Yorker.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>T has been leading for a long time now<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is not the first time that AT&amp;T Inc. (NYSE:T)\u00a0is participating in spreading the awareness about risk of texing while driving. Rather the story begins way back in 2010 when T cemented its leadership role as a traffic safety advocate and launched its &#8220;It Can Wait&#8221; campaign which was aimed to spread the awareness among the drivers about the hazards of texting while driving.
