Net revenues for the first quarter ending on March 31, 2014 were $50.8 million compared to $59.1 million in the first quarter of 2013. However, there is a net increase of 14% in the revenues against the revenues reported in the last quarter of the year 2013 (i.e. $44.7 million). The company has successfully beaten the analyst\u2019s estimates of loss of 1 cent by posting earnings of 5 cents per share.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Revenues banked on increasing sales<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Reportedly, the increase in revenues is attributed to the rise in sales. Carol Bramson, the President and Chief Executive Officer stated that the increase in the net sales is attributed to the product mix particularly in the nursery, monitor, gear and safety product categories that are essentially the higher margin products. The lower sales in the current year are perhaps due to the planned exiting of two major licensing agreements for Disney and Carter and the reduction in the furniture product line. However the decision of discontinuing these licensing agreements resulted in a visible decline in selling costs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Improved market performance for SUMR<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the declaration of financial results for the first quarter, the Roth Capital upgraded its opinion for Summer Infant Inc (NASDAQ:SUMR) from &#8220;Neutral&#8221; to &#8220;Buy&#8221; on Wednesday following which the stock&#8217;s performance experienced a jump of 40% becoming the top gainer of the day. The research report of Roth Capital states the strong financial performance of the distributor of juvenile health, safety and wellness products as because its upgraded ratings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Future aspirations and expectations <\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Summer Infant Inc (NASDAQ:SUMR) expects to improve its bottom line on a sequential and year on year basis.
