Like other REITs across the U.S., the company is adjusting its portfolio to increase stake in high-dollar properties while reducing stake in low-dollar properties. The company is also keen on improving its portfolio as the U.S. real estate industry shows signs of strong recovery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As companies expand their locations and hire more workers, demand for office, retail and residential spaces has gone up and is likely to continue growing for the balance of 2014 and beyond. As such, Vornado and peers are acquiring properties in prime areas, consolidating portfolio and revamping buildings with eyes on a robust real estate market that is capable of driving big growth and offsetting the lags experienced in the past quarters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Free up $400 for redeployment<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE:VNO) has earmarked The Shops at Georgetown Park for sale as part of its ongoing efforts to free up cash for deployment in high-dollar projects and acquisitions. The company shares stake at Georgetown Park with Angelo, Gordon &amp; Co. The large-format stores property was purchased for $61 million back in 2010 as a 300,000-sq ft indoor mall. The property was acquired in a foreclosure has undergone conversion into a series of larger-format stores. Vornado owns 50 percent stake in the Georgetown Park property.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition to Georgetown Park, the company is also considering shedding its stake in One Park Avenue, a property in New York. It also previously announced plans to transact Springfield Town Center that is currently under renovation. The sale of the malls will take place after the competition of the renovation works.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The company seeks to free $400 million from the transactions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Robust real estate market<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE:VNO) CEO Steve Roth, the company has a strategic plan to give up stake in certain properties to generate funds for more promising investments.
