These awards are given by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in recognition to the companies for their efforts to reduce carbon emissions and greenhouse gases. HBI was honored with the Sustainable Excellence Award.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Using Energy Efficiently:<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hanesbrands Inc. (NYSE:HBI) is a very environmental friendly company it uses renewable energy for its operations; thus contributing in reduction of greenhouse gases worldwide. The company fulfills its energy needs from geothermal, hydroelectric and biomass, keeping itself away from carbon based energy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><b>Business Performance:<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Even after winning a prestigious award, there was not much to celebrate when Hanesbrands Inc<b> <\/b>reported its 1Q2014. The profits of 1Q2014 had dipped by 19 percent to $41.6 million in comparison to $51.4 million last year first quarter. The company stated that it is expecting its full year revenues to be around $5.1 billion. It is a very encouraging statement considering the harsh economic environment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<b>Value for Shareholders:<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hanesbrands Inc. (NYSE:HBI) has created value for its shareholders by giving them $59.5 million in the way of dividends. The total annual dividend distributed to its shareholder comes to around 60 cents per share. The announcement made by the management in 4QFY13 that it is going to increase the quarterly dividend by 50% to 30 cents per share; so the full year dividend will be $1.20 per share.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After making this\u00a0 announcement\u00a0 payout ratio will be round 25-26% for the year. This payout ratio is still in the lower range of the company payout policy. A few years ago the company&#8217;s board approved a buyback program. The company decided to buy back nearly 10 million shares, but only could buy back 2.7 million under this repurchase program. HBI had to stop the repurchase program because of the recession. Hanesbrands Inc.
