However, the action to spin off the loan management segment can be seen causing damage to the stock. Share of the company collapsed more than 65 percent by mid afternoon on Thursday, suggesting investor anger over the recent developments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After the separation of the loan management service, the $4 billion company retained student loan business. In view of the increasing demand for education, the company expects special focus on the business of loaning money to students for their education to be a rewarding one given its already good reputation in the business. The company\u2019s student loans are extended to undergraduate and graduate students. Education sector is in robust growth, in the twenty-first century and loaning companies and online education providers have everything to show for their presence in the business.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, it seems investors are concerned that SLM Corp (NASDAQ:SLM)\u2019s decision to separate loan management and recovery business is a big gamble that is likely to backfire at best. But even in the latest developments, analysts do not seem concerned, at least, not in the scale of investors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In anticipation for the spinoff of Navient Corp, analysts issued their view and somewhat rated the remaining company (SLM Corp) favorably.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Analyst ratings<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ahead of the spinoff, Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C) rated the stock of SLM Corp (NASDAQ:SLM) as an \u201coutperform.\u201d Citigroup also planted a price target of $11 per share. The rating firm observed in a note to investors that the company is poised for fast-growth in a robust industry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Still, analysts at Credit Suisse rated SLM Corp (NASDAQ:SLM) an \u201coutperform.\u201d The firm cited issued price target of $11 per share in the next 12 months. The firm observes that the company was in for a rapid growth that should result in great benefits for the shareholders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Investors choose own path<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Though analysts are seemingly bullish on the prospects of SLM Corp (NASDAQ:SLM), investors cannot see the same picture. It seems investors lack faith in student loaning business and believe the company might plunge by spinning of the robust loan management and recovery unit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Given the difference in view between analysts and investors about the prospects of SLM Corp (NASDAQ:SLM), the sharp decline in the stock may offer an opportunity for investors ready to take the risks to acquire the shares at a discounted price.
