Boston, MA 04\/30\/2014 (wallstreetpr) –\u00a0Danaher Corporation (NYSE:DHR) <\/b>reported a solid performance in the first quarter of 2014 with the potential increase in revenue and earnings compared to prior year periods.<\/p>\n
Solid earnings growth <\/b><\/p>\n
Danaher offers a wide range of products across diversified sectors and continued investment in sales growth initiative drive demand for its products and services. Higher sales volumes from growth markets coupled with cost reduction measures improved the segment operating profits. The incremental YoY year core growth and continued improvement initiatives enhanced the operating margin by 100 basis points to 16.9%. Adjusted earnings during the period were $0.81 per share, up by 8% compared to $0.75 in the first quarter of 2013.<\/p>\n
Danaher Corporation (NYSE:DHR)\u2019s sales increased with core growth of 3.5% to $4.7 billion compared to $4.4 billion same period in year\u2019s ego. But, existing business from the developed market showed lower single digit growth compared to high growth markets (developing market). High growth market represented ~25% of total sales and grew by high single digit growth in 1Q2014.<\/p>\n
Among Danaher\u2019s business, Life Sciences & Diagnostic segment represented 37% of total sales in 1Q2014 and reported incremental growth YoY due to strong demand for clinical business in the high-growth markets.<\/p>\n
Positive cash flow<\/b><\/p>\n
Danaher\u2019s operating cash flow decreased by $125 million due to higher change in working capital despite a $67 million of dividend received from Apex\u2019s earnings that the company divested in 2013. During first three months of 2014, Danaher acquired five businesses for $163 million that reduce the overall net cash of the Company and free cash flow to $380 million. As of March 28, 2014, Danaher\u2019s cash balance was $3.3 billion.<\/p>\n
Prospects<\/b><\/p>\n
Danaher Corporation (NYSE:DHR) expects revenue growth and margin expansion with increasing opportunities from high-growth markets.
