The only weak point was a decline in iPad sales but in its core business of selling iPhones and making huge profits on each handset sold, Apple continues to do well.<\/p>\n
Soaring iPhone Sales<\/b><\/p>\n
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) reported 2Q2014 revenues of $45.6 billion and sold 43.7 million iPhones in the process making a whooping profit of $10.2 billion. Is the iPhone profit machine going to slow down soon? Not likely since Apple is just beginning<\/i> to shine in developing markets such as China where China Mobile has recently started selling iPhones. China Mobile has started with iPhone 5S and 5C models for use on its 4G LTE network. However, the top end Apple models are pretty expensive for the Chinese market.<\/p>\n
Once the next generation Apple 6S is launched and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) goes for a traditional price cut of the existing 5S and 5C models, then these models will surely become more attractive for first-time smartphone buyers in China. Also, as China Mobile keeps spreading the coverage of its 4G LTE network, more and more users will go for smartphones that make use of 4G LTE.<\/p>\n
Hence, iPhones in China will remain a long-term growth opportunity for Apple.<\/p>\n
The Next Quarter<\/b><\/p>\n
With a strong R&D expenditure and CEO Tim Cook talking about the launch of \u201cinnovative new products\u201d in the near future, it\u2019s likely that we will see many new things from The House of Apple \u2014 not the least of whom are going to be an iPhone 6 with a bigger screen and possibly phablets as well.<\/p>\n
So the guidance for 3Q2014 of $36 billion to $38 billion should be possible to achieve.<\/p>\n
The 7-for-1 stock split increases the likelihood that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be added to the Dow Jones. Not to forget the $30 billion that Apple has added to its existing $60 billion stock repurchase plan which is to be completed by the end of calendar 2015.<\/p>\n
