The newly upgraded internet speeds will mostly benefit Xfinity internet tiers in the Northeast division at no additional costs. This is one of Comcast\u2019s strategies to stay ahead of demand in terms of faster speeds with best in class wireless gateways. The company has emphasized it is trying to ensure families get more value from their internet connections across more devices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Upgraded Internet Speeds<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Northeast Xfinity internet tier will now enjoy speeds of up to 105Mbps up from 50 Mbps with Xfinity Extreme 105 tiers enjoying speeds of up to 150 Mbps up from 105 Mbps. This marks the second time in two years that the company has doubled its Blast tier. The new speeds will be applicable to customers in Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA)\u2019s Northeast division inclusive of Towanda area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some customers may be forced to upgrade their modems in order to enjoy the increased speeds while those who lease modems from the company being upgraded at no additional costs. This marks another milestone for the giant wireless network provider which is currently trying to convince congress and other regulators that its proposed merger with Time Warner will not have any effect on the level of competition in the industry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Comcast to boost internet Speeds even further with Time Warner Merger<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Comcast\u2019s Vice president\u00a0 has already told the senate judiciary committee that the deal will\u00a0 go a greater length in allowing Comcast to ramp up its offerings\u00a0 to boost its internet speeds to millions of customers. Some customers who have posted their complaints online maintain the deal may end up being soar to the end users as competition will have been split.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0Consumer advocates on the other hand maintain that adding up to 12 million consumers in one platform will mostly lead to an uptick in service complaints. Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) \u00a0on its part maintains it has spent billions of dollars to upgrade its network; making them more reliable and that the merger will certainly make it more efficient through interconnection of infrastructure.
