Boston, MA 03\/12\/2014 (wallstreetpr) –\u00a0Energy XXI claims it has reached an agreement for the acquisition of EPL Oil &Gas Inc. (NYSE:EPL)<\/b> in a deal thought to be worth $1.53 billion, the merger of the two companies will result in the largest publicly traded oil and gas producer in the Gulf of Mexico. The two entities will have the capacity of producing approximately 65,000 barrels a day once the merger is complete.<\/p>\n
Energy XXI Limited (NASDAQ:EXXI) <\/b>\u00a0claims that the merger will result in the highest concentration for large mature oil fields, ever owned by a single operator over the Gulf. The terms of the agreement will require EPL shareholders to choose whether to receive $39 per share held in cash or a combination of $25.35 in cash and 0.584 of Energy XXI shares.<\/p>\n
