He badly needs the support of such customers, notably from the enterprise segment to turn around the fortunes of the ailing company.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>I met President Obama:<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the critical task before John Chen, the CEO of BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY), is to meet prominent users of BlackBerry. And the most well known personality is President Obama. Chen has already met more than 100 customers since he took over the reins of the company, but one he will cherish the most would be his interaction with the White House staff. Though it is not clear if he met Mr. Obama, he had a long discussion with the White House staff to understand their requirements and also to brief them about the company. White House staff is given BlackBerry as soon as they join and the most prominent user is the President himself. The mobile is valued for its superior encryption services. The company is looking to capitalize on these services and attract more customers who are heavy e-mail users. It will soon launch a news model, Q20; containing some of the features BlackBerry has long been associated with.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Outages and more:<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) has managed to cut costs very drastically by use of some innovative methods. It is selling its real estate and leasing back the properties to generate easy cash. The production deal with Foxconn is also worth mentioning as BlackBerry will not have to worry about inventory write downs. A serious outage hit BlackBerry users in Canada as well as the Asia-Pacific region and the company had to spend several hours to rectify the issues. This comes at a very bad time as the company is trying to reinforce its image as a reliable and secure provider of mobile services. Even the offer by a network service provider in the U.S for a free upgrades to BlackBerry users, attracted more users than anticipated.
