Boston, MA 03\/04\/2014 (wallstreetpr) – General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) <\/b>said that it sold roughly 222,000 cars and trucks in February, especially the second half of the month. The bestselling vehicle of the month was Chevrolet Cruze whose sales were up about 22 percent. The same could not be said of GM\u2019s bestseller vehicle Chevy Silverado which fell 12 percent in sales for the month of February. The poor sales figures noted in February did not just occur in GM, other automakers such as Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F)<\/b> were also troubled. The top two U.S. vehicle manufacturers blamed their poor performance last month on bad weather, but expressed optimism that all would be well for the rest of the year. Yet at the same time, with sales expected to climb 1 percent in current month, compared with 8 percent increase last year, analysts are concerned whether auto sales momentum that was witnessed in 2013 is waning. Shares of General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) gained 0.03 percent to $36.21 by bell time Monday.<\/p>\n
Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) <\/b>has apparently overcome Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)<\/b> and other companies that had expressed interest in wristwatch trackers Basis. Various media sources are reporting that Intel has won over Basis at a price that is thought to be around $100 – $150 million. Basis is a promising player in the wearable health trackers, controlling about 7 percent of the market currently. That position is however smaller than the 21 percent market share of competitor Jawbone. Intel earlier this year made a lot of pronouncements, mostly at the Consumer Electronics Show, that it was interested in wearables. Currently the company is outpaced in the sensor wearables market by rivals Texas Instruments, Qualcomm and STMicroelectronics. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) shares suffered 1.05 percent loss to finish at $24.50 in the last session.<\/p>\n
EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC)<\/b> shares changed hands in the range of $25.77 – $26.77 in the last session. The stock lacked good news in it as it fell 0.8 percent to $26.16 by end of the regular trading session.
