Boston, MA 02\/25\/2014 (wallstreetpr) –\u00a0Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)<\/b> has announced changes in some management positions in its ranks. It is not hard to see that the changes have been made to accommodate Stephen Elop who previously headed Nokia and who will not join the software gorilla, apparently to head the Nokia unit that it is acquiring.<\/p>\n
Like most other tech companies, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is trying everything within its means to ensure that it remains relevant in business. The company made huge wealth serving the PC market in the early days when talks about computers ended with personals computers or PCs.<\/p>\n
But smartphone and tablet have quickly eroded the PC market so much so that companies like Microsoft and <\/span>Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ)<\/b> which drew a sizable amount of their revenue from PC sales have been hurt in the process. However, it is not hard to see that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is doing something to reverse that situation.<\/span><\/p>\n The company spared the management position at its Devices and Studio business for Mr. Elop. That means that the former Nokia boss will be in charge of devices and products like Surface and Xbox. Also, he will be in charge of the cellular business that is being inherited from <\/span>Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK)<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n Talk about the cellular business and Nokia has just used the ongoing Mobile World Congress to unveil a fresh line of smartphones targeted at emerging markets and which run on tweaked version of Android mobile OS. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will take charge of the newly announced devices when it finally closes the more than $7 billion purchase deal with Nokia.<\/span><\/p>\n Management Realignment<\/b><\/p>\n In order to create a position for Mr. Elop at Microsoft Devices and Studio, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) moved back Julie Larson-Green to its Applications and Services division. That was the group which Larson-Green worked in before she was tapped to lead the Devices and Software division. It thus means that Larson-Green who is synonymous with Windows will be back to doing what she knows best, so to speak. She will be dealing with products like Skype, Bing and Office. <\/b><\/p>\n The Elop Story In MSFT<\/b><\/p>\n Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) will be getting back its talent in Mr. Elop who left the company to run Nokia and who is now coming back through the purchase of Nokia. Mr. Elop had vied to manage Microsoft when Steve Ballmer announced his retirement.
