Boston, MA 02\/24\/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Alcoa Inc (NYSE:AA)<\/b>\u2019s decision to stop operations at Point Henry is leaving a trail of casualties. The Geelong council will have to adjust its budget to accommodate the loss of revenue from the aluminum company. Workers are also being prepared for redundancy. Alcoa managed has in the meantime assured affected workers of full entitlement payment when the facility eventually closes later this year. It is now reported that about 800 workers will be affected by shutdown of Point Henry operations. And majority of the workforce in the plant have been in service for at least a decade. According to the emerging reports, Alcoa is willing to offer a redundancy payoff of at least three and half weeks of basic salary for each year served. The company will also help the affected workers through confidential counseling, financial planning among other assistance necessary for its affected employees. However, even as Alcoa Inc (NYSE:AA) makes these promised, Australian Workers Union still has a lot of question, more so regarding government support for the affected Point Henry workers.<\/p>\n
The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE:KO)<\/b> is apparently under self-induced pressure. It was the company that voluntarily declared that it would double its sales by 2020.That declaration came in 2009. Yet, a quick health check on the company reveals that while things have been happening that suggest Vision 2020 is attainable, challenges are also piling and these could affect efforts to meet that target. The company recently reported generally unpopular profits and revenue for the fiscal 2013 fourth quarter. The results were majorly affected by decline soda sales. As a result, KO boss Muhtar Kent announced that the company would boost its marketing campaign spending this year to about $400 million. This ambitious move is hoped would help raise sales for Diet Coke among other products in key markets. Yet, market watchers are also wary if the said boost in ad spending was better than The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE:KO) just abandoning Vision 2020 that is clearly causing the management headache.<\/p>\n
Inovio Pharmaceuticals Inc (NYSEMKT:INO)<\/b>\u2019s trading in the previous week was characterized with gains on the browser. The stock gained more than 11 percent in the regular session to touch $3.22 per share. It was a day that the stock escalated to $3.24 and touched a bottom of $2.95, having opened at $2.98. A volume of shares exceeding the daily average was exchanged on Friday.
