It aimed at bringing together Omaha based ConAgra with Horizon Milling LLC, which is a collaboration of Minnetonka based Cargill and Inver Grove Heights based CHS, the largest flour miller in the U.S. As of now, Horizon Milling enjoys about 18% of the market share while ConAgra has around 16% share in the market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Reasons for delay<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the Monday filing, ConAgra Foods Inc (NYSE:CAG) said it is reconsidering the deadline for Ardent Mills, by which name the new company will be called. The company said that the delay is being caused due to several reasons, the primary being the ongoing regulatory review process. It also said that the company is making discussions with the U.S. Department of Justice. It hopes to complete the process in the second quarter of this year, according to the filing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>The U.S. largest flour producer<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ardent Mills is expected to be based in Denver and by far would be the largest producer of flour in the U.S. With this merger, the U.S. Justice Department\u2019s antitrust unit is probing that Ardent Mills would be in be in charge of as much as one-third the entire flour mill capacity of the U.S. The Department has been investigating the merger July last year. The company also reported in the filing that the associated companies were planning to dissociate from four flour mills before or during the completion of the merger.
