Such types of deals are common in the technology industry. What needs to be looked into is how this deal will benefit Cisco and Samsung. The two companies are yet to disclose the financial terms in this deal, but it should be coming into effect immediately, and without further ado. The deal covers a wide spectrum of products and technologies that the two companies are involved in, and it would be interesting to see how it will impact on the financial strengths of both Cisco and Samsung.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is worth noting that this is not the first deal of its kind that Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) has entered into with another technology giant. Just recently, the company signed a similar deal with Google Inc. Of further interest is the fact that both <b>Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) <\/b>and Samsung already have their own deal that is in many ways similar to the one between Cisco and Samsung, or Google and Cisco. This is of great interest since it seems that the technology giants have come to the realization that they need each other to increase their attractiveness and improve revenues. Such types of deals help these companies to experience better financial returns thus making them retain investor confidence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the benefits of such cross-licensing deals is that it protects the companies in question from lawsuits. Technology firms are the most affected parties when it comes to lawsuits. The hope is that by signing this deal with Samsung Electronics and the much earlier agreement with Google Inc, Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) faces very little to non-existent legal threats. The threat of litigation can hit a company hard to a point where its stock loses value. Cisco has taken the brave decision to sig a cross licensing deal with both Google and Samsung, and this will reduce the amount of litigation it could have dealt with in the absence of such covering.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lawsuits tend to have a negative impact on a company\u2019s financials, but this will not be the case with Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) after signing the deals with Google and Samsung. The possibility of the stock or brand suffering poor and bad publicity due to the litigation brought against it, would be no more thus protecting Cisco as a brand. Consequently, what these two deals achieve is that they enable Cisco, as well as both Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Samsung, to focus more on coming up with new products that will improve their financials. Signing such deals, is not sensible and cheaper compared to working in an environment where you are constantly worried that someone will sue you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The deal with Samsung and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is a good move on Cisco\u2019s part. Under this deal, the two companies have access to each other\u2019s portfolio of patents. Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) already belongs to the Coalition for Patent Fairness, whose main work is to reduce the lawsuits between technology firms. Other technology firms that have also joined this coalition include Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), <b>Dell Inc.
