This despite the fact that the company has a close partnership with <b>Microsoft Corporation <\/b><b>(NASDAQ:MSFT)<\/b> and the competing Windows system. Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK)\u2019s handset division is now in the final stages of being taken over\u00a0 by Microsoft and \u00a0will tout this new handset at the Mobile World Congress that is slated to be held in Barcelona said a report that quoted unidentified sources who were in the know. There was no comment forthcoming either from Nokia or Microsoft.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>For emerging markets <\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This new Android phone will be targeted at the emerging markets and will not have certain features that other high-end Google operated smartphones have. Samsung and Apple have been dominating the smartphone market with their Android and iOS \u2013based devices and Microsoft and <b>Nokia Corporation (ADR) <\/b><b>(NYSE:NOK)<\/b> have been struggling to make a dent in the market. Strategy Analytics, the technology research firm says that 79% of smartphones that were shipped globally in 2013 operated on Android, 15% were iPhones that operated on the company\u2019s iOS and only 4% ran on the Windows Phone software.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Wait and watch<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An Android-based device just might be able to leverage the massive Android app ecosystem. However, that can happen only when an app store is built and developers are convinced to submit apps there. There is no saying as to how this new Android <b>Nokia Corporation (ADR) <\/b><b>(NYSE:NOK)<\/b> device will fare and market watchers are saying that users should not expect too much in terms of support. The fact of the matter is that Microsoft will have to adopt a huge policy change to accommodate an Android device. Some time ago, Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) had launched a Meego version of its N9, but is soon abandoned that effort and moved back to the Windows system.
