Boston, MA 02\/10\/2014 (wallstreetpr) – Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) <\/b>the memory chip maker takes on giant memory chip marker Samsung Electronics as customers do reach out to it. This information was part of the latest Analysts conference by Micron Technology executives on Friday Feb 7, 2014.<\/p>\n
Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) executives for the first time revealed that Samsung was one of the suppliers in the equipment segment.<\/p>\n
Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) has in many ways been part of the change in the memory business sector over the years, approximately a decade ago. Back then the need was for PC as well as Networking memory products. However, currently memory is a very important component as it is required by nearly every segment of any business. This has meant the suppliers too have become more diversified and specialized in the products they offer. This also allows companies such as Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) to work on higher margins. As part of the Conference CEO and Director of the company Mark Duncan shared that the financials were solid with 32% gross margin, while the net margin was 22%.<\/p>\n
Apart from the good financial health report, the company did have some challenges in terms of products it offers in its portfolio the CEO shared.<\/p>\n
DRAM sees a challenge is that the technology is now limiting. According to him, it is no longer feasible to push more films into the standard capacitors currently available nor is the thickness of these films likely to slimmer. Unless thinner new films can be made, the capacitor into smaller DRAM nodes will be challenge he shared.<\/p>\n
Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) will focus on the 256 GB NAND memor y and will look to move higher on this technology over the next few months and offer 3D NAND. The technology for 3D is high and the 3D memory accessories are expected to move the industry in the next few quarters.<\/p>\n
Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) expects to see more traction on the Mobile storing products it offers and will see the 16nmNAND as well as the mLPDDR4 DRAM to be the best in the industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
