Reports about this possible takeover surfaced over the weekend. MT is the world\u2019s largest steelmaker while Ilva runs the biggest steel plant in the whole of Europe. The company produces steel products used mainly be shipbuilders, carmakers and electrical appliance manufacturers. Ilva is a family controlled business at it accounts for about 40 percent of the Italian steel output. The company has been at the center of a long-standing environmental dispute, thus the company is currently under special administration since last year. By acquiring Ilva in whole or part, Mt would effectively boost its position in southern Europe, and more so, acquire more price control in the region. By the time of this writing, ArcelorMittal (ADR) (NYSE:MT) had not commented on the speculation, yet various media outlets have reported the same.<\/p>\n
JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM)<\/b> will pay about $1.5 million in to settle sex discrimination charges brought against it by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Several women claimed that they were sexually harassed and such cases date back to 2006 though EEOC brought up the case against the bank in 2009. The bank\u2019s supervisors apparently used sexually charged comments and behaviors that didn\u2019t go down well with some women bankers. Thus, the amount of fine quoted in the case will go to about 16 women employees. According to Jason Lobo, the bank\u2019s spokesperson, harassment and discrimination have no place in the workplace, including JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM).
