The agreement was announced in Atlanta at the Advanced Automotive Battery Conference. The deal will help in the commercialization of aluminum-air battery manufactured by Phinergy. The partnership will focus on such aspects of commercialization as processes, components and materials. Alcoa has been reaching out to strategic partners to help boost its aluminum production business and thus this agreement with Phinergy signals that the company is up to a good start this year. The kind of batter that Phinergy will be making in collaboration with Alcoa Inc (NYSE:AA) is more powerful than the well known lithium-ion cells and could offer electric car drivers greater mileage\u2013 up to 1,000 miles range.<\/p>\n
