(NYSE:JPM)<\/b>: It is reported that the head of JPM\u2019s now for-sale commodity business Blythe Masters has been tapped to join a committee advising the U.S. derivates regulator. JPM is shedding part of its physical commodity business to comply with regulatory requirements. Over the post years, the banking giant build an empire in this business, reportedly surpassing previous leaders Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) and Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS). Masters now joins market participants that will discuss and advice the regulatory agency on a broad range of issues. JPM has however not issued a word regarding its executive joining the committee to advise derivative regulators. JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) managed to cling to the positive side of things Thursday, gaining 2.3 percent over the previous closing to end the day at $56.48.<\/p>\n
Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE)<\/b> can now breathe a sigh of relief after managing to win a patent stay for its number one drug Lyrica. The company has now blocked manufacturing of the generic versions of the drug until 2018. The U.S. Court of Appeals decided in favor of PFE which could have lost yet another patent on its important products against a group of generic manufacturers. Lyrica is used to treat shingles, epilepsy, hot flashes and several other conditions and it fetched about $4.6 billion in revenue for the company last year. PFE previously lost patent on Lipitor which used to generate no less than $13 billion a year in sales. Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) added 19 cents to its stock price in the previous session, managing to rise to $30.84 per share.<\/p>\n
Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX)<\/b> has announced that it is working in collaboration with Manipal University Hospital towards the development of a technology to be used in neonatal units, but which would not require skin contact. The noncontact health sensing technology is at the center of the research work in Bangalore. The technology will help in such functions as detecting and collecting data about infants\u2019 medical conditions and respiratory without the need of contact probes attached to the skin. It is reported that about 35 research and involved in the Bangalore research project.
