(NASDAQ:SCOR)<\/b>, the digital analytics and business services provider released the latest ranking of the top smart phone manufactures and operating systems in the U.S market. As per the report Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) <\/b>has clawed its way back into the top spot in the U.S smart phone market with a market share of 41.8 percent in the last quarter of 2013. This increase in market share, the report has opined, has been built on the launch of two new models of iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c in U.S followed by other markets across the globe.<\/p>\n
In a similar report for the July to September time frame, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) market share had gone down to 40.6 percent, which had led to concerns that the Cupertino based firm was slowly losing ground to the collective assault of Samsung and Google led android running smart phones.<\/p>\n
Samsung Continues To Gain Market Share<\/b><\/p>\n
The South Korean smart phone maker Samsung which has put its lot behind the Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) <\/b>backed android operating system has a market share of 26.1 percent as per the COMSCORE, Inc. (NASDAQ:SCOR) report for the last quarter of 2013. In the 3Q, the market share for the firm was 24.9 percent.<\/p>\n
Motorola, LG and HTC Bring Up The Rear<\/b><\/p>\n
In the smart phone sweep stakes, till recently Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) owned Motorola<\/b> comes up third in the list with a market share of 6.7 percent. Analysts believe that with the ownership of the once house hold name\u00a0 in U.S cell phone space, \u00a0shifting to China based Lenovo newer models can be expected to be released at a faster clip. The laggards in this list were another South Korean devices maker LG which has managed to garner a respectable 6.6 percent followed by HTC which has a market share of 5.7 percent.<\/p>\n
Microsoft Loses Market Share<\/b><\/p>\n
The report will also provide food for thought for the newly appointed CEO of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) <\/b>Satya Nadella, who will have to grapple with falling sales of the much marketed Windows Phone which has a market share of 3.1 percent.
