The other change revolved around the appointment of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wtxl.com\/news\/famu-graduate-named-chairman-of-microsoft-corporation\/article_9f2fce20-8dc0-11e3-8175-001a4bcf6878.html\">FAMU graduate<\/a> John W Thompson as the chairman of the board replacing the long serving and co-founder of MSFT Bill Gates. It was announced that Bill Gates was stepping aside in order to focus more on other pressing matters that needed his attention. Satya Nadella comes into the top position with the company facing immense competition in the market with the erosion of its PC-centric Windows and Office.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Challenges that Nadella will need to address<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There has been suggestion that it is high time that Microsoft unchained its software\u2019s so that they could be more readily compatible with other devices especially from Apple and Samsung. The views have been echoed by Morfit Mason who is joining Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)<b> <\/b>as a director. This is seen as one of the best moves that will see MSFT increase its market share. Another challenge, is the push by some investors who would wish to see the retrenchment and a cut of the company\u2019s huge cash pile. The biggest problem at the moment lies on the fact that 90% of PC\u2019s run on Windows with a mere 4% on smartphones which are becoming a big hit in the market.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Foursquare deal with Microsoft<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The biggest news at the moment is the change of guard at Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)<b> <\/b>but in other news MSFT has entered into bed with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.valuewalk.com\/2014\/02\/foursquare-announces-deal-with-microsoft-corporation-msft\/\">Foursquare for commercialization<\/a> and technical licensing.
