Irish authorities are reportedly seeking a warrant to extradite the primary suspect in the brutal murder of Jamey Carney, a 43-year-old New York mother found beaten and suffocated in her Killarney home last month.<\/p>\n

Carney, who documented her life abroad as a “New Yorker in Ireland,” was discovered by her teenage daughter on July 7.<\/p>\n

Investigators believe her partner, a Jordanian national seeking asylum in Ireland, beat her to death before fleeing the country on a last-minute flight to Istanbul and eventually traveling to Jordan, where he was subsequently detained.<\/p>\n

Authorities have submitted a file to Ireland\u2019s Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) recommending murder charges, The Irish Mirror<\/a> reported. The DPP is currently reviewing the evidence to determine if formal charges will be brought.<\/p>\n

If the DPP approves prosecution, Irish officials will face diplomatic hurdles to bring the suspect back, as Ireland lacks a formal extradition treaty with Jordan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na, Ireland’s national police force, declined to comment on the matter when reached by Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n

“The Garda investigation into the murder of Jamey Carney is ongoing,” an agency spokesperson said. “A file has been submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.”<\/p>\n

“The garda\u00ed are obviously pursuing a very clear line of inquiry. The person they want to speak to left the country before the body of the late Ms. Carney was discovered,” he said.<\/p>\n

The suspect initially arrived in the United Kingdom before crossing through Northern Ireland to settle in County Kerry.<\/p>\n

While living in a state-run accommodation for asylum seekers<\/a>, he worked in hospitality and construction and began spending increased time at Carney’s home after they became romantically involved.<\/p>\n

Carney\u2019s social media posts<\/a> featured her partner, whom she referred to as part of a “mixed couple,” and noted that she had recently begun learning Arabic.<\/p>\n

The Irish Independent<\/a> reported that the suspect had expressed a desire to relocate to the United States and told acquaintances Carney was assisting him with securing U.S. residency.<\/p>\n

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Director of Public Prosecutions for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
