A former California college swimmer was naked when he allegedly attacked a graveyard shift security guard who was found dead hours later at a Maui<\/a>, Hawaii resort, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Legend Storer, 20, has been charged with second-degree murder<\/a>, first-degree burglary involving a dangerous instrument and indecent exposure in connection with the Aug. 5 death of Michael “Mike” Dyer, 63, according to court records obtained by Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n

The Maui Police Department said the bizarre chain of events began around 1:45 a.m., when surveillance footage captured an unclothed man approaching Dyer\u2019s office at a condominium resort on Lower Honoapi\u02bbilani Road in Lahaina.<\/p>\n

The man allegedly assaulted Dyer before taking off on foot, according to the Maui Police Department.<\/p>\n

Just over an hour later, at about 3:02 a.m., dispatchers received a report of a nude man wandering through a neighborhood in nearby Kahana.<\/p>\n

Officers tracked down the unclothed 20-year-old around 3:35 a.m. and found that he had suffered numerous abrasions, police said. He was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center for evaluation.<\/p>\n

Then, at 5:31 a.m., police were called to the resort after Dyer was found unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

Investigators reviewing surveillance footage later determined that the man found wandering naked in Kahana was the same person seen in the footage from the resort, police said.<\/p>\n

Maui Police Department did not publicly identify the suspect by name, citing a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruling and its policy against routinely releasing identifying information about people who have been arrested.<\/p>\n

But Hawaii court records identify Storer as the suspect charged with the same three offenses, all stemming from an alleged crime on Aug. 5.<\/p>\n

Storer is charged with second-degree murder<\/a>, first-degree burglary involving a dangerous instrument and indecent exposure.<\/p>\n

He pleaded not guilty after the written criminal complaint was filed Aug. 7.<\/p>\n

Dyer was working the graveyard shift as a security guard at Sands of Kahana when he was killed, according to a GoFundMe organized by family and friends of his wife, Joy.<\/p>\n

Storer previously competed for Concordia University Irvine\u2019s men\u2019s swimming and diving team in California, according to the university\u2019s athletics website.<\/p>\n

The profile lists the Lahaina native as a freshman breaststroke and sprint swimmer on Concordia\u2019s 2024-25 roster and says he graduated from Maui Preparatory Academy in 2024, where he was a two-time Maui Interscholastic League winner.<\/p>\n
